About

PodTube turns any YouTube channel into an RSS feed with audio. Videos become podcast episodes and show up in Apple Podcasts, Pocket Casts, or any other player alongside the user’s existing subscriptions.

The service solves a simple problem: lectures, interviews, and breakdowns are easier to listen to on the go than to watch with the screen on. PodTube removes the extra step — there is no need to check whether the author has a separate podcast. Pasting the channel link is enough.

Key features

Channel → RSS feed

The user pastes a YouTube channel link, and the service creates a personal RSS feed with audio versions of the videos. Connecting it takes one step: open the link in a podcast player.

Automatic updates

When the author publishes a new video, the episode appears in the feed automatically. The player treats it like any other podcast episode, with the usual queue, playback speed, and saved position.

Works with any player

PodTube uses the standard RSS format and connects to Apple Podcasts, Pocket Casts, and any other app that accepts podcast feeds by URL. No dedicated client is required.

Invite-only private feeds

Each feed is unique to its user. The service runs in a closed beta, with access handed out through a Telegram bot — this keeps processing load manageable and makes it easier to fix issues quickly.

Results

PodTube is in closed beta and is used for listening to long-form content: lectures, talk shows, and in-depth breakdowns. The service shows that YouTube can serve as a full audio source once you remove the requirement to look at the screen.
